The Children's Peace World (Barnas Fredsverden) is an activity centre that will engage children and youth in peace and conflict resolution, and will open its doors in Moss (Østfold, Norway) in 2014. PRIO will be the main contributor of scientific knowledge on theories of peace and peacebuilding to the Children's Peace World - thus contributing with important intellectual building stones to the activities and exhibitions of the centre. Wenche Hauge is the leader of the project on the Children's Peace World at PRIO.
This is how the Mayor of Moss expressed himself about the center in the Informational Memorandum of The Academic Council of the United Nations System (ACUNS) in the spring 2012. "Promoting the UN Charter's ideal to save succeeding generations from the scourge of war" the citizens of the Norwegian municipality of Moss will establish the Children's Peace World (CPW) in 2014. This will be a 4000 square meter adventure centre that shall strengthen the engagement of children and youth in the promotion of peace and inspire them to find ways to live together as friends in the schoolyard as well as at the global level".
