Supervisors: Ingrid Nyborg, Noragric/UMB, Kristian Berg Harpviken, PRIO
Institutions: PRIO and the Noragric PhD programme in Development Studies at UMB.
The PhD project will investigate the links between religious practices, development processes and gender roles and relations through 1) a focus on private Islamic charity approaches to poverty reduction in Pakistan; and 2) a focus on female Islamic activists – as ‘development agents’ – involved in private Islamic charities in Pakistan.
