Bridge over Troubled Water - Interaction in International River Basins

In this PHD project, Marit Brochmann will look at both cooperation and conflict in international river basins. She will use a new global issue-coded dataset on river claims developed in collaboration with the ICOW (Issues Correlates of War project) and examine data on conflictful and cooperative water events. A gravity model of cooperation and conflict is the baseline model, with additional dyadic variables for shared river basins and water scarcity.
