Methodology of the Democratic Peace
Led by Nils Petter Gleditsch
Jan 1997 - Jan 2000

Funded by NFR (1997–98) and the US National Science Foundation (1998–2000), this project examines the consequences of democracy and democratization at the subnational, national, dyadic and system levels. There is a strong emphasis on improving the methodology of such studies, always with a view to obtaining substantively important findings. This project had the greatest degree of project activity within the CWP programme in 1998 and early 1999, but is now being eclipsed by the globalization, environment and civil war projects.

Project leader: Scott Gates & Nils Petter Gleditsch
Researchers: Håvard Hegre, Tove Grete Lie, Sara McLaughlin & Anita Schjølset
