Shahrbanou Tadjbakhsh is, since September 2005, the Director of the newly created Center for Peace and Human Security at L’Institut d’ Etudes Politiques (Sciences Po) in Paris, previously Adjunct Professor at the School of International and Public Affairs at Columbia University (2003-2005). Tadjbakhsh worked as a staff member of the UNDP in various field assignments. Her last posting was Policy Advisor for the National Human Development Reports at the Human Development Report Office at the UNDP in New York. She has also collaborated with the Commission on Human Security in the preparation of their final report, Human Security Now. S. Tadjbakhsh was also the Editor in Chief of Security with a Human Face: Challenges and Responsibilities, the first National Human Development Report for Afghanistan. S. Tadjbakhsh has a PhD (1994) and a Master's Degree (1991) in area studies, with a concentration on Central Asian Studies from Columbia University and a Bachelor's Degree from Georgetown University (1987).
