PRIO Gender, Peace and Security Update (Issue 3-4, 2011)
We are happy to share with you the latest issue of the Gender, Peace abnd Security Update. This issue has a special focus on the 2011 Nobel Peace Prize, awarded to President of Liberia Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, and grassroots activists Leymah Gbowee of Liberia and Tawakkol Karman of Yemen. You will find articles on various civil society events held during the Nobel Days, including a PRIO Film Seminar at Vika Kino featuring Leymah Gbowee and a screening of 'Pray the Devil Back to Hell'; a FOKUS seminar on Resolution 1325 under the headline ‘Women, Peace and Security: What Impact Will the Nobel Peace Prize Have on Future Work?’; a CARE/NRC seminar on 'Women’s Leadership in Peace and Conflict'. The PRIO Gender Peace and Security Update is an electronic newsletter launched by PRIO’s Gender Team in response to growing interest among the public for information about women, peace and security issues.
The newsletter will keep readers informed of the latest developments both internationally and in Norway in relation to UN Security Council Resolution 1325 (2000) on Women, Peace and Security and subsequent resolutions.
