This dataset includes statistics for all battle deaths (soldiers and civilians killed in combat) in state-based armed conflicts. The dataset is compatible with the UCDP/PRIO Armed Conflict Dataset (Gleditsch et al., 2002) for the period 1946–2002; with the Correlates of War Dataset (Sarkees, 2000) for the period 1900–97; and the Fearon & Laitin (2003) dataset on civil conflict in the period 1945–99.
